My main issue with eternal is its lighter color pallet and the gameplay jsut felt "wrong" compared to 2016, espescially the melee being shit.

To be honest probably the only reason why people dont like DOOM eternal is because of the gameplay. If it was just DOOM 2016 2.0 literally, where its the exact same as DOOM 2016 but with new levels, then basically no one would be complaining (very exaggerated by the way), but because the combat is, in my opinion, a lot more fun, people just get angry since they cant just use the only the gaus cannon to kill everything. And I'm not saying I hate DOOM 2016, I love DOOM 2016, but I overall think DOOM eternal is just a lot better gameplay wise. But atmosphere does go to DOOM 2016. If you enjoy DOOM 2016 more than DOOM eternal, cool. But if you go out of your way to say that DOOM 2016 is BETTER than DOOM eternal gameplay wise, then thats just stupid.

nuh uh, eternal is obviously faster than 2016 bc eternal has dashing whereas 2016 has a FUCKING WALK BUTTON, WHY THE HELL DOES THAT EXIST IN A DOOM GAME? Also if you can play doom 2016 faster than eternal and say 2016, your not just wrong, your also bad at eternal because it was made to be a faster paced game than 2016

The gearbox Expansions makes the original Games feel like 'The Twilight Zone' and 'Goosebumps' Anthology's where each story or episodes takes place in different perspectives or different events that happen while the series is about the same Incidents but different events. Like how the Halloween series was going to do that for 'Halloween 3' but people hated it so they brought back Michael Myers in 4. But Halloween 3 felt more like a reboot like Doom 3. I really like the expansions, it tells you that There were other people other than Gordon is surviving the Black Mesa Incident. Like we have to know about the other other scientists and Security guards escaping or the HECU trying to survive through Black Mesa.

Doom 2016 is a game what will remain forever with a small playerbase because its a nice game what respects the traditional 2000's singleplayer shooters Doom Eternal is praised by the braindead hypetrain masses but the game itself will die off within a decade with its garbage mechanics and forced playstyle Doom Dark Age will instantly fail because woke BS or some company infights, also its gameplay will completely be off from its genre making it a joke

The fun challenges from 2016 werent removed theyre just in a different form, slayer gates.

Some people need to understand it's just personal preferance, i personally haven't played either in quite a while because they are too repetative and get stale after the 1st or 2nd playthough. I like the originals the most.

This dude claims that these mechanics are made independent with no thought on how they interact….. um You’re low on ammo, chainsaw a zombie Low on armor or health and see a crowd of undead next to a heavy demon? Ice bomb to freeze the heavy demon & undead horde, fire belch then use a grenade to instantly blow up the undead horde giving you max armor Or blood punch to get health/armor drop if your grenade is charging still Need out of a sticky situation with a super heavy? Use your crucible sword (I play with weird bindings on controller so I don’t have it mapped anywhere but still it’s 2016’s chainsaw but a sword and no ammo drop) I could go on but each system is designed to make you unstoppable IF YOU CAN MASTER HOW THEY FLOW TOGETHER. Even if you have a basic quick swapping technique down( believe me I know it’s hard on controller but the weapon wheel slows down time ) & utilize the chainsaw, grenades, and flame belch to their intended role you can experience the power fantasy that was just given to you in 2016 doom

Eternal was vomit inducing chaos! The devs must’ve been smoking crack!

In Doom 2016 you feel like an unstoppable force born to kill, in this game you feel like some random dude in a go-go gadget suit playing in bland level design that resembles the worlds of Duke Nukem and Returnal. The video gamey-ness definitely removes a lot of the immersiveness in the game and suffers from the same problems Wolfenstein 2: New Collosus had. Funnily enough, both published by the same company, it feels as if they tried to dig into their "We're edgey" bag for both games and inadvertantly made weaker versions of both.

from what i understand. the reason he doesn't like doom eternal is because he likes a simpler fighting game that's still doom like 2016. seems like a fair point for both types of people to play there games
